What we can do for you

Eastbourne Electrical joined the EV vehicle revolution several years ago and as such has gained extensive knowledge in the practical solutions to overcome many situations that have arisen. This experience provides us with an edge on companies which are now only just beginning to explore the market.

We have sought out alternative installation processes which has removed the need to have earth rods installed to comply with the current regulations as well as methods to reduce the demand on your electrical installation if you have a smaller domestic electrical supply.

Eastbourne Electrical is an OLEV approved installer for both the Home Charge Scheme and Work Place Scheme and has partnered with a number of manufacturers which will allow us to provide a charger that meets your requirements.

We are extremely proud of our trusted Official Tesla Approved Installer status. This allows us the opportunity to install their charge points and we have many satisfied clients.

Your Journey starts here

Is your electrical supply suitable?

Electric vehicles require large amounts of energy to charge, similar to that of a cooker or shower. Not all domestic properties can take the additional loading. Click here to read the UKPN fuse upgrade criteria post.

Site Survey

All installations will be different. We do not offer you a fixed price based on a "standard installation costs" like national companies as there is no such thing as a standard installation. The survey will be conducted either in person or by using remote video conferencing.

Quotation

On completion of the site survey, we will be able to offer you a detailed quotation based on the information we have discussed with you, such as vehicle charger manufacture time frames etc. The quotations are on a no obligation basis and will show all labour and materials costs.

Installation

A typical installation will take around one-day to complete. You can expect your electrical installation to be isolated whilst we carry out the final connections. This should be for no more than an hour.

Certification

All new installations will require a certificate to demonstrate that the installation is safe. We will carry out this procedure as well as notify your local building control of the work as legally required.

OLEV Grant?

Eastbourne Electrical is an OLEV approved installer and can assist you obtaining a grant towards you charge point installation subject to the terms & conditions detailed below – Registration No: EVS285 & WCS285.

Electric vehicles are a crucial step to decarbonising our transport system and reducing air pollution through zero tailpipe emissions. The government recognises that many people will want to charge their electric vehicles at home. This grant scheme is designed to help them do so.

The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme is a grant that provides a 75% contribution to the cost of one chargepoint and its installation. A grant cap is set at £350 (including VAT) per installation. The main requirement is that a person owns, leases, or has ordered a qualifying vehicle and has dedicated off-street parking at their property. A person may apply for 2 chargepoints at the same property if they have 2 qualifying vehicles.

The grant works by a customer choosing an EVHS installer to install their chargepoint. The EVHS installer checks that they qualify and then applies on the customer’s behalf. The installer will bill the customer for the price of the installation, less the grant amount they have applied for. If the application is successful, the installer will be paid the grant amount that they have off-set from the customer’s bill. OLEV aims to process claims for experienced installers within 30 working days.

The government reserves the right to terminate the grant at any time but will aim to provide 4 weeks’ notice. Should the grant rate change, or the scheme end, the government will honour grant claims made before the date of any public announcement subject to meeting all relevant criteria set out in this guidance. The announcement will detail how claims made after it will be treated.

WCS is a voucher-based scheme designed to provide eligible applicants with support towards the upfront costs of the purchase and installation of EV chargepoints. The contribution is limited to the 75% of purchase and installation costs, up to a maximum of £350 for each socket, up to a maximum of 40 across all sites for each applicant.

Applicants will apply for the scheme using the online application portal. If eligibility checks are successful, applicants will be issued with a unique identification voucher code via email, which can then be given to any OZEV-authorised WCS installer.

The voucher will be valid for 6 months (180 days) from the date of issue, (expiry date printed on the voucher). Once the chargepoint(s) have been installed, the authorised installer will claim the grant from OZEV on the applicant’s behalf through the online installer portal.

The system will calculate the 75% of the declared purchase and installation costs and confirm the exact value of the grant awarded, which will be capped at a maximum of £350 per socket. The chargepoint installation must be completed and the voucher claimed within the 6-month period. Installers must not charge customers for the grant in advance of payment being made by OZEV. Claims against expired vouchers will not be paid.

A voucher can only be redeemed by installers who have been authorised by OZEV for the WCS and have approval from a chargepoint manufacturer to install their chargepoint models, which are approved by OZEV. They must be authorised before they begin installing chargepoints.

OZEV reserves the right to terminate or change the rules of the grant scheme, including the grant level, at any time, although we will endeavour to provide up to 4 weeks’ notice. OZEV will honour any unique identification voucher codes that have been issued ahead of any changes to the grant or during any notice period given following the announcement of the scheme closure.
